Troubleshooting
Why is the transcript out of sync with the audio?
Ads inserted into an episode can shift the timing. Use Resync to line the transcript back up, and report it if the problem continues.
Last updated:
The live transcript normally highlights each word as it’s spoken. If the highlight runs ahead of or behind the audio, the most common cause is dynamic ad insertion.
Why it happens
Many podcasts insert ads into episodes when you start playing them. The ads can be different each time, and of different lengths, so the audio you hear may not line up exactly with the timing the transcript was built on.
Fix it with Resync
- While the episode plays, tap Resync.
- Podling lines the transcript back up with the audio you’re hearing.
- Keep listening. If the timing drifts again after another ad break, use Resync again.
Other things to try
- Pause and play again, or skip back a few seconds.
- Close and reopen the episode.
- Make sure Podling is up to date.
Still out of sync?
Report it so we can take a look:
- Long-press a sentence that’s out of sync.
- Tap Report a problem and choose Out of sync.
- Add a note if it helps, for example “starts after the first ad break.”
