How do I start shadowing an episode?
Open an episode, start shadowing and choose Sync or Segment mode, then speak along with the speaker. Sync and 1-sentence segments are free.

Shadowing means repeating what a speaker says, as closely as you can, right after or along with them. It trains your pronunciation, rhythm and listening at the same time, using real podcasts.
Start shadowing
- Open an episode you want to practise with.
- Start shadowing from the player.
- Choose a mode:
- Sync: speak along with the audio as it plays.
- Segment: Podling plays 1, 2 or 3 sentences, then pauses so you can repeat.
- Speak out loud, following the highlighted transcript.
Controls you can use
- Adjust the speed to slow the speaker down.
- Repeat a sentence as many times as you need.
- Jump to the previous or next sentence.
What’s included in each plan
- Free: Sync mode and 1-sentence segments.
- Plus and Pro: also 2- and 3-sentence segments.
Shadowing time counts toward your daily goal, which by default includes 10 minutes of shadowing.
