How do I look up a word or phrase while listening?
Tap any word in the transcript to see its meaning, pronunciation and sentence. Long-press and drag to select a phrase. Free includes 20 lookups a day.

While an episode plays, every word in the live transcript can be tapped. Podling shows you what it means in your native language, how it’s pronounced and the sentence it came from.
Look up a word
- Open the transcript of any episode.
- Tap a word.
- Read its meaning, listen to the pronunciation and see the sentence it came from.
- Tap the bookmark to save it to your word bank.
Look up a phrase
- Long-press the first word of the phrase.
- Drag to select the rest of the phrase.
- Release to see the meaning of the whole phrase, for example a phrasal verb or idiom.
Daily lookup limits
- Free: 20 lookups per day. Your count resets at midnight in your phone’s local time.
- Plus and Pro: unlimited lookups.
When you reach the Free limit, you can keep listening and reading the transcript as usual; lookups become available again after midnight.
